Wall Framing Stud and Plate Estimator

Enter the wall length and height, the openings and the spacing and see studs, plates and sheathing to plan for.

These tools give planning-level estimates from typical values. They are not quotes, designs or engineering, and results depend on your actual materials, framing, access, local rules and conditions. Only a site visit can confirm what a project needs, and we give you a written scope and price before any work begins.

How it works

    Studs, plates and sheathing sheets.

Tips

  • Add extra studs for corners and openings.
  • Plates run across the top and bottom, and the top plate is doubled.
  • Order a few extra studs because some will be crooked.
Questions

About this tool.

Is this an engineered plan?

No. It is a planning estimate. Framing for real projects follows the plans and engineering.

It ties walls together and helps carry loads from above.
