Solid walnut, maple and oak slabs and butcher block counters, flattened, joined and finished for kitchens, bars and desks.
Wood counters bring warmth and personality to a kitchen. A live edge slab keeps the natural shape of the tree, and a butcher block counter has a clean, classic look. Both feel better to the touch than stone and can be repaired and refinished many times.
We select slabs for grain, color and stability, flatten and join them, cut sink and cooktop openings, sand and finish with food-safe oils or hard-wearing coatings. We also build bar tops, desks and shelves from slab stock and seal the edges and undersides to resist moisture. We bring samples of species and finishes and make a cardboard template of the counter so you can see the final size and edge shape. A template also helps us place the sink and cooktop cutouts exactly where they belong.
We look for color, figure and flatness and avoid slabs with defects that would weaken a counter. We bring samples and photos of available stock.
Oil finishes are warm and repairable, and harder coatings are more stain resistant. Counters near a sink need extra sealing.
Wood can be sanded and refinished if it gets scratched or stained. We show you how to maintain it so it ages gracefully.
Use trivets and a cutting board. Wood is durable but not heatproof, and care preserves the finish.
