The finishing line where wall meets ceiling, cut with tight miters and coped joints that stay closed through the seasons.
Crown molding gives a room a finished, intentional look. A simple profile adds a clean line, and a larger built-up crown with a frieze and cove can make a ceiling feel taller and a room feel grander. What separates good work from average work is the corners.
We read the room first: ceiling height, wall straightness and corner angles that are rarely exactly ninety degrees. Then we cope inside corners, cut outside miters to the actual angle, scarf long runs and fasten into framing so joints stay closed through humid summers and dry winters.
The best crown suits the height of the room. We bring samples and hold them in place, so you can see the real proportions before we cut.
A coped inside corner follows the profile of the crossing piece and stays tight as wood moves. Butt-mitered inside corners tend to open, so we cope.
Layering base, frieze and cove creates a deep traditional crown, and a recessed ledge can hide LED lighting for a soft glow.
Crown looks best with a good finish. We fill nail holes, caulk the top and bottom lines and prepare the molding for paint so the lines are crisp.
