Solid-wood shelves and fireplace mantels with hidden supports, cut from beautiful lumber and fitted to the wall.
A simple wooden shelf or a beam mantel can anchor a room. Floating shelves with no visible brackets look clean and modern, and a solid mantel gives a fireplace presence. The wood species, thickness and finish do much of the design work.
We build shelves and mantels from solid or hollow-core lumber, install hidden steel supports anchored into studs, cut them to fit walls and corners and finish them to match your room. For fireplaces, we follow clearance rules for combustibles and choose species and thickness for the style you want. We locate studs and any hidden wiring before drilling and choose supports that match the weight you plan to carry. For long runs, we plan additional anchors and joints so the shelf stays straight and the wall stays undamaged.
A floating shelf hides a steel bracket or cleat that bolts to the studs. With proper anchoring, even a long shelf can hold books and decor.
A mantel above a fireplace must keep a safe distance from the firebox. We follow the rules and the manufacturer's instructions.
Thick beams, live edge slabs and reclaimed timbers make characterful mantels and shelves. We select pieces with the grain and texture you like.
A shelf looks best with a mix of heights and textures. We tell you how much it can hold.
