Original trim, mantels, stairs and windows repaired and recreated so an older home keeps its character.
Older homes have details that new homes rarely match: deep casings, tall baseboards, carved mantels and wide plank floors. When these are damaged or missing, the right repair preserves value and charm. A modern replacement often looks wrong because the profile and proportions are off.
We study original details, repair what can be saved, and mill matching profiles for what cannot. We work with lead-safe practices when needed, preserve old finishes where possible and blend new pieces so they look original. We also repair stairs, built-ins and old windows. We photograph and measure the existing profiles, mark pieces that can be saved and make a plan for what must be reproduced. Working slowly and recording each step preserves the character of the house and respects the craftsmen who built it.
Original material is often better than replacement. We repair, consolidate and re-secure old trim whenever it makes sense.
We copy original profiles with custom knives so new casing, base and crown match the old ones.
Houses built before the late seventies may have lead paint. We follow safe work practices and tell you what to expect.
Photos and profiles help maintain records. If your home is in a historic district, we follow guidelines.
