Hand-hewn beams, barn boards and salvaged lumber turned into ceilings, walls, mantels and furniture with real history.
Reclaimed wood carries a history that new lumber cannot. Old barn boards have deep patina, hand-hewn beams show the marks of the axe and salvaged heart pine or oak is denser and more stable than much modern lumber. Used well, it brings warmth and character to a home.
We source, clean, de-nail and mill reclaimed boards and beams, treat them for pests and moisture and use them for ceilings, accent walls, mantels, doors, tables and shelves. We can keep the rough texture or plane the wood smooth while preserving its color and character. Each reclaimed board is different, so we sort by color, width and character and lay boards out on the floor before installing. That extra step produces a wall or ceiling that feels natural, with the weathered tones spread evenly.
Salvaged wood must be cleaned and checked for metal, insects and rot. We prepare it properly so it is safe to use indoors.
You can leave the weathered surface, wire-brush it or plane it for a smoother feel. We show samples of each so you can pick.
Some old beams are strong enough to carry load, and others are for looks. We use them accordingly and bring in an engineer when needed.
Reclaimed wood should be sealed to keep dust and splinters down. We apply finishes that preserve the look.
